Every school needs formal intervention strategies to react to and prevent bullying. Punishment does not work.

Bullying exists and is shrouded in silence – we must break that silence through repeated messaging and pupil surveys.

Teachers react in a formal agreed yet private, confidential and caring manner – creating a behaviour contract with the child carrying out the bullying.

Repeated bullying is dealt with as a serious breach of discipline. This includes cyber bullying. School staffs and Parents Associations will meet to flesh out the policy in September 2014.
